Dix Hills, NY – For many people, Labor Day weekend is about the beach, BBQs and one final summer hurrah; for Robert J. Salzer, it’s become an annual tradition to lace up his skates, jump on the ice and give back. The Williams Family Law, P.C. partner returned to the rink to join professional players and hockey legends at the 13th Annual “Hockey Helps” 24-hour marathon, which took place Saturday, September 5^th and Sunday, September 6^th 2026, at the Dix Hills Ice Rink, in Dix Hills, NY.

The annual marathon brings players together around the clock to raise funds for charities supporting individuals and families affected by addiction, mental health challenges and cancer, as well as economically disadvantaged children and youth. Since its founding, Hockey Helps has raised more than $6 million for regional nonprofits.

Salzer shared the ice with an impressive lineup of former NHL players, including Stéphane Matteau, Adam Graves, Brian Mullen, Colton Orr, Stefan Matteau, Jr., Mike Hartman, Hall-of-Famer Mark Howe and Boo Nieves.

A lifelong hockey player, Salzer played throughout his childhood, college and law school years and now continues to play in a men’s league. Hockey Helps gives him the opportunity to combine his longtime passion for the sport with a cause that makes a difference in the lives of others.
